The Prayer and the Power of God in Ministry course is part of the Gospel and Society minor curriculum, which is designed to prepare people to reach out to others with the Gospel. It is designed for all who feel a calling towards evangelism, and to help them cultivate a richer appreciation for practicing effective prayer ministry for others.

TEACHER

Bud Simon, Th.D. 

Dr. Simon has a doctorate in Theology from Asbury Seminary, where his research focused on church planting as a form of evangelism. Dr. Simon was also a central figure during the Asbury University revivals in 2023, leading the prayer and worship services. Prior to this, he and his wife spent a total of 20 years as missionaries planting churches in the Amazon rainforests in Brazil. 

He was last in Estonia 2 years ago, when he was a guest lecturer at BMTS and gave a special seminar to the Complete Healing Ministry team (Tervikliku Tervenemise Teenistus).

COURSE DESCRIPTION 

The goal of the course is to cultivate a richer appreciation for practicing effective prayer ministry for others. The course aims to develop healthy expectations in prayer and hearing from God by teaching core principles and practices that will help students become more confident in praying for others. It seeks to deepen the student’s understanding of how to work with the Holy Spirit in prayer ministry, strengthen their ability to hear God's voice, and increase discernment.  

By completing this course, students will be able to: 

  1. Demonstrate how to model Christ in prayer ministry and work effectively with the Holy Spirit using biblical foundations. 
  2. Apply a practical model for prayer ministry and use specific guidelines to steward prayer encounters well. 
  3. Recognize key principles for hearing God's voice and discerning spiritual issues during prayer ministry. 
  4. Practice prayer ministry with confidence, experiencing the Holy Spirit more personally and hearing His voice more clearly. 
  5. Align their actions with how God the Father is at work in order to steward Holy Spirit moments well. 
  6. Facilitate encounters where the presence of the Holy Spirit becomes more real and manifest in the lives of those receiving prayer.
